What is epigenetics? How can we use this knowledge to improve quality of life and performance at the same time?
Epigenetics explains how habits influence genetics, just as genetics also influence habits. However, since we cannot change genetics directly, we can do so through behavior.
The DeRose Method is nothing more than the application of this concept. It is a methodology that teaches how to act on behavior to obtain the desired results, whether in the professional, personal or sports area.
To learn more, I recommend reading this chapter of the book Live Longer and Better , by Professor DeRose LSA ( egregorabooks.com ):
Explaining it in a very simplified way, epigenetics is the area of biology that studies non-genetic factors that can turn certain genes on or off and, therefore, their effects are not caused by changes in DNA1.
In other words, epigenetics can be understood as the extent to which behavior, habits, diet and environment can stimulate or delay genes from triggering their programming, or can even turn them off . Thus, an individual with genetics that predispose to cancer at 40 years of age, if that individual smoked, drank alcohol (even socially), if he ate meat and processed foods, such a person could have the malignant tumor occurring earlier, at 30 years of age or earlier.
If, on the other hand, such an individual never smoked, drank alcohol, ate meat or processed foods, learned to breathe, managed his emotions and thoughts, managed his stress and did moderate exercise, he could delay the onset of cancer programming so that it would not occur at 40, but at 60, 70 or even never manifest in his life. There are records of cases in which an existing tumor stopped growing or even regressed after a radical change in lifestyle, including, of course, diet – among many other attitudes . The same occurs with diabetes, Alzheimer's, arthritis, heart problems and almost all other illnesses.
However, we do not want to limit these concepts to the scope of health, since we do not work in that area, but rather extend them to personal development, exploring the latent potential in human genes, in order to improve their performance in sports, profession, science, arts and in everything in life. This is the vision of epigenetics advocated by the DeROSE Method.
Aristotle (384-322 BC) had already mentioned epigenesis. In 1942, Conrad Waddington used the term epigenetics, referring to the way genes are influenced by the environment . Dr. Bruna Mascaro, a biologist specializing in sequencing applied to oncology, illustrates this phenomenon very well:
“A classic example is the study of queen and worker bees, which despite having identical genetic sequences, are completely different in terms of behavior, physiology and phenotype. In this case, the phrase 'you are what you eat' represents exactly what is observed: both queen and worker bees are initially fed royal jelly, however, worker bees are quickly weaned and fed nectar and pollen, while queen bees are fed royal jelly throughout their development, maintaining this diet even into adulthood. Recent studies have shown that royal jelly contains ingredients capable of inhibiting the methylation of cytosines in DNA, leading to increased expression of genes that are silenced in worker bees, which may explain the great phenotypic and behavioral difference between these two castes.”

In the pages of this book, you will come into contact with several resources through which our behavioral reprogramming method can provide you with a whole range of biological modifications that aim to increase your vitality coefficient, productivity, happiness and long, healthy life . And as a bonus, it can save your marriage2.
